"Battle of the Barnabys" Part One
Issue#49: "Battle of the Barnabys" Part One.
Part Six of Eight of The Doppelganger Saga
Barnaby meets his evil doppelganger Bartleby...
Notes and References:
This is the sixth appearance of Bartleby.
Aldbug, Cecil and the kidnapped Loaker appear in this issue but have no dialogue.
This is the first time Barnaby and Bartleby have featured in the same issue since issue#44: "A Tale of Two Barnabys".
Barnaby mentions a long walk home and appears to be wearing the same yellow backpack suggesting that he has been walking home from school since issue#44. This has been done to explain his recent lack appearances (although in reality it was done so the Bartleby character could be explored more).
Barnaby is the only character who has worked out who and what Bartleby is, This leads to an extremely temporary friendly conversation between the two gremlins. During the conversation Barnaby mentions "The Double" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, One of the main influences for "The Doppelganger Saga".
Two trees bearing the now scratched out Kathy Dudbert love heart carvings can be seen in this issue.
