This is the second strip to feature the character of Emily Hair as a main Character, She previously starred in isse#14: "Interview With The Feigenbaum" and has been seen as a background character in other strips as well as appearing on the Barnaby and Loaker Christmas card.

The idea to have a staring competition feature in this issue stems from the real life Emily Hair enjoying this particular activity in art school many years ago.

Although not depicted, Emily Hair would have eventually won the competition after a further two hours. However she would later happily agree that Loaker is better at hanging upside down than she is....
